This will be my last post about my experience in the Philippines.  I want to share some of the snacks, treats, and little eats I enjoyed.

I believe I mentioned this before, but Mangos are very popular.  The mango balls with tamarind were weird and i didn’t care too much for them.  The dried mangos were just ok.  However, the items in the Red Ribbon bag were AMAZING.  They were little balls of white chocolate mixed with something which remains a mystery to me and lightly coated in sugar.  I mean how can you beat that.  They were slightly soft and just melt in your mouth.  The items above that were some sort of sugary treat that was almost like a compressed powder.  It is hard to describe.  Each one was something different like ube, cookies and cream, coffee, etc.  I was told to try and whistle while I ate one and it is impossible.  Finally, the chichacorn is their version of corn pop chips and I’ve always enjoyed those.

Kyushu Seaweed flavor lays chips should be nasty.  But it’s amazing.  So, if you get a chance to eat them and you don’t then your loss.

I had three of these treats.  They are in bamboo shoots and are another type of rice cake.  Each one had a different color toothpick holding them closed.  I realized halfway through eating them that they corresponding with what kind of rice and other sweet item was inside.  The one open in the picture had a mango, the other closed one had some sort of cake like item inside, and the third one not in the photo was the purple cake with ube I believe.  They were all really different from each other and just different from anything I’ve ever had.  I can see why one of my co-workers said that these were her favorite.  It’s not too sweet and not too filling.  I could see myself eating too many of these.

Someone from work got me this as a goodbye present.  He called it a coconut wine, but that bottle clearly shows 40% alcohol level.  I had some and it is like a really light and smooth version of a middle point between vodka and rum.  Crazy good.  I mean just delicious.  Originally he was trying to get me a coffee that is local to the Philippines.  He said the store was out and ended up getting me this instead.  He laughed and said I think this is better anyway. I can see why.

The last lunch I had in the Philippines was from KFC.  I mean why not really.  It was supposed to be from Jollibee, which is there version of McDonalds.  It’s cheap fast food and everywhere.  Often it is co-located with a McDonalds.  The food was good or as good as one would expect from a meal costing roughly $2 USD.  The picture below shows all of the delivery bikes at this one particular location.  You can order Jollibee almost any time of day for delivery.

And that’s all I got for my final Filipino post!  I would suggest visiting their tourist beaches because that is what everyone talks about going to for vacation.  I will say they do look pretty awesome.
